As we go about our daily lives, it can be easy to focus on what divides us rather than what unites us. Whether it's differences in politics, religion, or culture, it can sometimes feel like the things that set us apart are more significant than the things that bring us together. But as Christians, we're called to a different way of living. In John 13:34-35, Jesus tells us, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another."

Loving one another means reaching out across boundaries and building connections with people who may not share our beliefs or backgrounds. And that's exactly what the Taking Heart program is all about.

Taking Heart is a unique initiative that brings Christians, members of other faith communities, and Muslims together for food, conversation, and connection during Ramadan. Ramadan is a month of fasting and spiritual reflection for Muslims, and Taking Heart provides a space for non-Muslims to learn about this important observance and build relationships with their Muslim neighbors.

During Taking Heart events, participants share a meal together, engage in dialogue, and learn about each other's beliefs and practices. The program creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all faiths and backgrounds to come together and learn from one another.

As Christians, we have a unique opportunity to live out our faith by participating in initiatives like Taking Heart. By engaging in dialogue with people of other faiths, we can appreciate more hope that we have in Christ while we learn from the different hopes of others.

Taking Heart isn't just about faith – it's also about building human relationships and fostering understanding. By participating in Taking Heart, you can break down barriers and work towards a more compassionate community.
